MARCHE, EMOTIONS IN MOTORCYCLE (THETA EDITIONS, 130 PP)

- Fifteen itineraries cross the five provinces of Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata and Pesaro Urbino in a journey of 1,352 kilometers in the beauty of the Marche.

It is the first regional guide dedicated to motorbike tourism, to those who want to discover "on the saddle" villages suspended in time, seaside resorts and naturalistic jewels, often off the usual routes.

The guide, supported by Confcommercio Pesaro Urbino, illustrates a series of easy, unusual and curious routes, conceived by Raffaella Scortichini and Agnese Ausili, and tested in the field by Raffaella Rossini, director of Terra di Piloti e Motori, an association founded in 2017 to promote motorcycle tourism in the province of Pesaro Urbino, land of great two-wheeled champions.

The routes, mostly all on asphalt,

they allow you to cross the entire Marche region on the road, from the breezes of the Adriatic to the hills dotted with villages up to the peaks of the Sibillini.

«The motorbike allows you to travel along roads and paths more easily than traveling by car - explains Amerigo Varotti, director of Confcommercio Pesaro Urbino - and often allows you to get to know places and routes that cannot be visited.

The new guide, in addition to the itineraries in the strict sense, suggests how to discover the area and its attractions "on the saddle", experiencing the environment and the people who live there in a more direct and authentic way».

Among the 15 itineraries there is the one of 208 km, which from Gabicce Mare, the gateway to the Marches, leads to the Gola del Furlo, passing through the green enclave of Monte San Bartolo, the mighty Gradara, and the villages of Casteldimezzo and Fiorenzuola di Focara, overlooking the sea, and Carpegna, in the heart of Montefeltro and at the foot of the largest Turkey oak forest in Europe.

Also worth discovering is the 115 km "beach to beach" which from the sandy beach of Senigallia, curve after curve, climbs to Cupramontana, up to the fascinating Hermitage of the White Friars, and continues to Jesi and then descends towards Ancona and ends on the Bay of Portonovo, in the Conero Regional Park.

You travel along a winding road in the vegetation, almost designed especially for motorbikes.

Also noteworthy is the 89 km route in the heart of the Marche region,

which from Tolentino and the Rancia castle reaches Serrapetrona, city of wine and the famous Vernaccia DOCG, touches the unexpected canyons of the Lame Rosse in the Monti Sibillini National Park to climb to an altitude of 1,550 meters up to the magical amphitheater of Piani di Ragnolo .

In the deep south of the region, however, the guide suggests a 125 km sea-mountain itinerary: starting from Grottamare, on the Riviera delle Palme, you reach the delightful Ascoli Piceno, and then continue towards the natural pools of Lu Vurghe.

And from here, with a journey of 75 km, you arrive in Montemonaco, door of the Sibillini Ascoli and mysterious home of the Sibyl, and you go back down to Force, the village of panoramas, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains and the Adriatic .

Finally, a very short route, just 38 km, in the province of Fermo, which winds its way inland from the lively Porto San Giorgio, to discover little-known turreted and crenellated villages, such as Lapedona, perched on the Valdaso, Ponzano di Fermo and Petritoli, wedding location for countless foreign couples, culminating in the tranquility of Monte Vidon Combatte, emblem of all the small towns of the Marche region with its perfect ancient terracotta settlement.

To complete the guide, a series of useful suggestions on events, gastronomic excellences and curiosities not to be missed along the journeys.

The "Marche, emotions in motion" guide, available on the Theta editions and Confcommercio Pesaro Urbino websites, is the first step in a wider project that will allow the 90 municipalities touched by the itineraries and local hospitality entrepreneurs to work together.

«This of "Marche, emotions in motion" is a project that covers the whole region - underlines the director Amerigo Varotti - demonstrating how our organization is able to create tourist products for all the Marches and not only for the territory of Pesaro-Urbino.

It is no coincidence that localities in other provinces are asking us to collaborate in the near future".
