(ANSA) - CUNEO, MARCH 25 - A church of the Sacred Heart packed like never before gave a last farewell to Luca Bergia, historic drummer of Marlene Kuntz, found dead last Thursday in his home in Cuneo.
Together with family members, dozens of friends, fans, many very young people who had known him as a school teacher were present.
Even Cristiano Godano, his lifelong friend, voice of the band whose original nucleus was formed in 1988 by Bergia and the guitarist Riccardo Tesio: "You looked for me and you took me with obstinacy. If the Marlene were born it is precisely because of this obstinacy of yours" he remembered Godano in a long letter to his deceased colleague, read in front of those present.
"You were an enormous, inventive, musical, very original drummer on the Italian scene" said the frontman of him, mentioning the certificates of esteem received in recent days, including that of Pj Harvey's drummer, Rob Ellis, and Samuel Romano of Subsonica.
Godano recalled how the collaboration with Nick Cave was born thanks to Bergia and retraced numerous episodes lived together: "
Bergia had given up on continuing activity in the band two years ago, due to personal problems: "We have always wanted to hope - said Godano - that your will and your character would one day allow you to find the strength and determination to come back with us , in the place that belonged to you".
Tonight the Marlene Kuntz will play at the "Magda Olivero" theater in Saluzzo.
An already announced live, which the group has chosen not to cancel and instead to dedicate to their deceased friend.
