Migrants: record landings on Lampedusa, 2,700 in 24 hours

There are already over 2,700 migrants who have been rescued in the Mediterranean or have landed on the Italian coasts in the last few hours,

but the toll - given the reports at sea - is destined to rise further towards the 3,000 mark.
