Twitter has confirmed the global launch of Blue, its premium paid service. For the occasion, the social network led by Elon Musk specified that, starting April 1, all current users with the verification tick and non-subscribers to the service will see the account 'downgraded', i.e. without verification.
To continue having it, you will need to subscribe to Twitter Blue.
It is not clear whether the promise will be kept or if, given the occasion of April Fools' Day, the move will not go through.
In our country, the Blue fee varies from 11 euros per month if accessed from an iPhone or Android smartphone to 8 euros for the web version.
The extra features can only be used by the platform from which you subscribe.
Among the options you will have access to are less advertising, i.e. 50% less tweets with ads, bookmark folders, popular articles, the ability to upload longer videos, posts with more characters and the menu to edit tweets , with the modification history that will always be present, with a dedicated key, to understand what has been changed compared to the original sentence.
There is also an integration with NFTs, digital works of art, which can be used as a profile picture.
Launched in the United States in November, and available in Italy since February, Twitter Blue immediately ran into some problems.
Many users have taken advantage of the
opportunity to get an almost immediate blue check for posing as celebrities, including Elon Musk himself, thanks to the ability to change names after becoming certified.
This is how a false account of the Eli Lilly company, which produces insulin, created panic last November by writing that the drug would be given free.
Within hours, the company's share dropped more than 4%, wiping out more than $15 billion in market capitalization.
