(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 27 - The compromise between the Commission and Germany is passed at the meeting of the 27 Deputy Permanent Representatives (Coreper I).

This was announced by the Swedish Presidency.

"Coreper I has approved that the agreement on C02 standards for cars will be on the agenda of tomorrow's Energy Affairs Council for final adoption", announces the current EU presidency.

Italy, as far as we learn, at the meeting of the 27 ambassadors had asked for more time to deepen the declaration on e-fuels that the Commission will attach to the stop to car pollutants from 2035. The declaration, it is explained, substantially changes the conditions for interpretation and implementation of the regulation and Italy believes that the States must have time to reflect.

It will therefore be asked that the regulation be removed from the points where discussion is not foreseen tomorrow at the Energy Affairs Council where, on paper, the final ratification of the regulation is foreseen, after the EU-Germany agreement.

"The Coreper meeting which will analyze the proposal is underway, and tomorrow the Energy Council will do so. We will await the outcome of these discussions, before publishing the details on the agreement with Germany", said the EU Commission spokesman, Eric Mamer, responding in during the briefing to those who asked him to illustrate in detail the agreement reached on Saturday by the EU executive with Berlin.

When asked if, in the agreement, there is also the possibility of including biofuels and not just e-fuels beyond 2035, another Commission spokesman, Tim McPhee, underlined: "this is not the time to speculate on what the next steps in the process will be legislative".
