Twelve hectares of woods went up in smoke due to a vast fire that is engulfing the houses in Montenegrino Valtravaglia (Varese), fueled by strong winds during the night.
Several teams of firefighters worked through the night to protect the houses.
Teams from the offices of Luino, Varese, Ispra, Laveno Mombello, Somma Lombardo, Busto and Gallarate alternated with four fire engines, five fire-fighting off-road vehicles and two tankers, over thirty firefighters engaged.
The flame front reached two kilometers in length.
