(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, MARCH 28 - The fire that caused 39 deaths in a detention center for migrants in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, on the border with the United States, was started by migrants protesting against their imminent deportation.
This was announced by the President of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
"We assume that they knew that they would be expelled and that, in protest, they put mattresses on the door of the reception center and set it on fire, without imagining that this would cause this terrible misfortune," the president indicated during his daily press conference.
