The CGT of the waste and sanitation sector announced on Tuesday the suspension from Wednesday of the garbage collectors' strike in Paris and the blocking of incinerators, which have caused the accumulation of garbage in the streets of the capital since March 6.

We need to discuss again with the agents of the waste and sanitation sector of the city of Paris in order to go back to the strike stronger (...) because we have almost no more strikers", recognizes in a press release the
CGT -FTDNEEA which brings together garbage collectors, sewer workers, skip drivers in the capital.

This is why we are suspending our strike and blockade movement from Wednesday March 29
", announces the union, which says "
see you soon to the employees still on strike and in struggle
", because "
we are going to reappear
".

The fight is not over, (Emmanuel) Macron and (Élisabeth) Borne must withdraw this reform and come to the negotiating table
", reaffirms the majority union in the sector.
The agents' strike, and especially the blocking of the three incinerators serving the capital, in particular that of Ivry-sur-Seine, the most important, led to a spectacular pile-up of uncollected waste in the capital.
7000 tonnes of uncollected waste
Tuesday, the 23rd day of the movement, "
waste collection remains very disrupted
" in Paris, summarized the cleanliness assistant Colombe Brossel on Twitter.
But the overall volume is falling again with 7,000 tonnes of uncollected waste, against more than 10,000 on Friday, PS mayor Anne Hidalgo said in a tweet. The end of the movement in two of the three incineration plants, announced Friday by the metropolitan agency Syctom, and the requisition of the third by the police headquarters have allowed the beginning of decongestion.
But blockages still remained on Tuesday at the gates of two of the three factories, Syctom told AFP.
If the Saint-Ouen factory, where the furnaces are still under maintenance for “
a few days
”, received the waste normally, that of Issy-les-Moulineaux was subject to an “
intermittent filtering dam by outsiders to the site
" and access to that of Ivry-sur-Seine was still blocked, said Syctom.
The operator plans to "
restart incineration tomorrow
" Wednesday in Ivry, while it is already possible "
since this weekend
" in Issy.
