(ANSA) - BEIJING, MARCH 29 - China will "strongly counter-attack" if Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen stops over in the US during her mission to Central America.
This was stated by ZhuFenglian, spokesman for the central government's Taiwan Affairs Office, according to whom the Democratic Progressive Party authorities "have made excuses and exploited various opportunities to pursue political interests of independence".
The hypothesis of a meeting with the speaker of the US House, Kevin McCarthy, "will be another provocation in violation of the 'One China' principle, undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and regional peace and stability".
