The government "has an ambitious program and there will be no shortage of obstacles to carry it forward, however we are not afraid, we do not lack courage, vision and we do not lack respect for the citizens who have given us the task of governing this nation".
This is what
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
underlines in a message on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Confapi.

In a commentary by the British newspaper, the prime minister is making the post-election 'honeymoon' last, and indicates the prime minister's strengths in her popularity among Italians and international credibility (ANSA)
The government, explains the premier, intends "to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to revolutionize this nation because the citizens have not chosen us to maintain the Status quo" but to "make reforms that no one else has had the courage to do" with "the determination to go all the way. It's a difficult path but one that doesn't scare us".
Then speaking in videoconference at the Summit for Democracy 2023
, the prime minister underlines that democracy and economic growth are interdependent and that only a democratic system can guarantee growth, justice, equality, legality.
"Democracy brings economic growth and spreads prosperity", she adds, and "economic growth and prosperity strengthen democracy".
"Only a democratic system can ensure the essential conditions to trigger sustainable growth".
According to Meloni, the Summit for democracy represents "a great opportunity for our democracies to work together against the unprecedented challenges and new threats that the pandemic and Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine have placed before us. We all believe in democratic values ".
A presidential reform of the state
"It is necessary to ensure that institutions are stable, fast and efficient. Having more stable, fast and efficient institutions means being able to have greater reliability at an international level and work to focus energies on strategic and long term.
This is the direction in which my government wants to go
, in fact we are firmly convinced that democracy can become even stronger and more solid through a presidential reform of the state, a reform that I consider fundamental and which also represents a powerful measure for the economic growth".
