(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 29 - Sergio Ermotti will return as CEO of the banking giant UBS to pilot the acquisition of CreditSuisse.
This was announced by the bank's board of directors.
"The UBS board of directors has appointed Sergio P. Ermotti chief executive officer and chairman of the group board, effective April 5, 2023," reads a statement.
Ermotti spent nine years restoring UBS's reputation following its bailout by the Swiss government and central bank in 2008. He will succeed Ralph Hamers, who has agreed to step down but will remain by his side through a period of transition.
