What brings you to Israel?

"This is just a stopover on the way home. I'm after a two-month backpacking trip in Asia - India, Singapore, the Philippines. So I made a short stop in the United Arab Emirates and now I'm here for three days. I just arrived yesterday."

How was your first day in Tel Aviv?

"So far, disappointing. I admit it's not a place I dreamed of going to all my life, but I still expected much more than that. Tel Aviv is talked about as if it were who knows what. It's not the impression you get at first glance."

And this is what you tell me on an amazing sunny day by the sea?

"Yes, the beach is nice, and really everything here is open and buzzing with life as they say. But it's not a high-class place, sorry. The traffic here is terrible. I just arrived from Florentine to Jaffa by bus, and it was a bad trip. Everything is congested here, there is dirt on the streets, full of graffiti, Electric wires, old buildings with wires coming out of them. It's not aesthetic."

To the extent that?

"Look, I'm coming back from the East. Obviously I've seen worse places. But hey, this is Tel Aviv. For the prices I pay here, I'd expect more than that. Tel Aviv is one of the most expensive cities in the world, so I knew I'd pay more, but I thought it would show in return that I I'll get my money's worth here. I've been to Singapore, for example, which also has very high prices, but it's clean and tidy, and the public transportation there is excellent. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are also expensive, but there's nothing to compare it to. It's clean and well-kept there."

But you decided to stop here despite the prices.

"I came for a short time and I'm sleeping in a relatively cheap hostel in Florentine, in a shared room. And in general, when it comes to traveling around the world, I try not to limit myself. I want to see and experience as many places as possible. So I don't avoid going to places just because of the prices. But that's probably this time The last one I'll get here, so not bad."

Wait, give it a chance, maybe in the end you'll fall in love and want to come back.

"No, no, I am not returning to Israel."

Still, one good thing to say in closing?

The people maybe?

"Mmm... I'm not really impressed yet. But I know you have the best army in the whole world."
