Amazon has reportedly started reporting products that are frequently returned.
According to the website The Information, the goal is to warn consumers about potentially misleading or low-quality items.
The caption that distinguishes these products will be able to draw the potential buyer's attention to the need to find out better about what he is buying, for example by reading more reviews and opinions from other users.
An end, in terms of sustainability, also concerns the need for Amazon to reduce the number of returns.
Being an often free service, in collaboration with local carriers who can collect the unwanted product within 30 days, even at the customer's home, the return involves costs for the e-commerce giant and an impact on the environment.
It is not clear, beyond the credibility of an item sent back by several people, whether the label that reads 'Frequently returned product' could also represent a warning for the seller, both direct and third-party, and a possible limit to sale for the future.
For now, the news seems to concern only the US market and still a few items, including a record player and two items of clothing.
As Forbes explains,
During the pandemic, returns for Amazon have skyrocketed, especially for clothes.
Not knowing exactly which size to buy, customers ended up buying two or three sizes of the same garment, keeping only the one that fit and sending the others back.
