The Italian local autonomies against the Calderoli bill on differentiated autonomy: 'It creates a regional mega-centralism that divides Italy', says the mayor of Pesaro, the dem Matteo Ricci (ANSA)

"We are clearly opposed to the Calderoli bill and therefore we will set up committees to oppose the progress of this bill and if it is approved we will transform these committees into a referendum committee to repeal it".

This was announced by Matteo Ricci, dem mayor of Pesaro and president of Ali (Italian local authorities).

Commenting on the provision on differentiated autonomy, Ricci speaks of "a wrong provision, which creates a regional mega-centralism that divides Italy and against which we will fight with all our strength".

On the subject of Pnrr, and on the alarm of delays, Ricci launches his proposal to ask Europe, he explains, "to use Pnrr funding for projects that will never be completed to cover the rise in costs and thus allow those that have already started can be finished. So let's do fewer things, but let's bring them to the end".

"What is needed is for the government to carry out the reforms that Europe is asking of us, starting with the one on competition, which concerns seaside resorts, to obtain the other tranches of funding from the Pnrr that have yet to arrive. But it must be noted that the construction site costs have increased by around 30%, which is why I think it is reasonable to use this money to cover the increases even by giving up on some projects but completing those already underway".
