Baram Forest is located in the Upper Galilee and covers an area of about 10,000 dunams.

The forest is planted on the steep slopes that slope down to the Dishon stream from both banks, and is bordered between the settlements of Baram, Yaraon, Avivim and Kerem ben Zimara.

Some of the trees there were planted as early as 1950, and most of the forests include Jerusalem pine and Brutia pine.

Throughout the forest there are arranged seating areas for stopping in the great outdoors and also several options for hiking trails.

Shimon Moalem, training coordinator at Sde Alon Tabor School of the Society for the Protection of Nature, recommends a mostly easy family walking route, about 3 km long, suitable for all seasons (beware of mud in the rainy winter, of course).

Challenges for children but not too difficult for adults

We start the route in a neat parking lot with KKL-Junk benches where you can enjoy a meal. We start the trip by going down the blue-marked route on top of a jeep path next to plantations. After about half a kilometer and one twist where we continue down we will reach a split - the jeep road will continue Straight in black marking and the blue marking will continue in a downward direction.

We will choose to continue on the jeep trail with the black marking and we will go along with it until we see a turn where the black trail leaves the jeep trail and descends into the forest.

There we will descend on huge boulders carefully until we reach the Nahal Tzabon (Nahal Tzabon, without running water) - one of the most beautiful streams in the Meiron region.

Upon reaching the stream, the route will turn into a red marking combined with the Israel Trail, we will turn east (left) and follow the Israel Trail heading north on the Zebon Stream until we reach the split with a blue trail.

Together with the split we will climb back and return to the parking lot.

The route is almost entirely shaded and cool, passes through the Mediterranean grove, and gives the feeling of a trip in a "fairy forest", ups and downs on rocky paths will give children fun challenges, and on the other hand will not be too difficult for the adults.

The common oak is the main tree along the route, but we can also meet the medicinal birch, Er Atzil (with bay leaves), Ella Eretz Yisraeli, and more.

These days you can see around the stream and also in the parking lot different species of spring blossoms that change every few days, starting with anemones, bulbs and poppies to orchids of different species, such as the forest orchid, the butterfly orchid, the Galilee orchid and more.

In the winter months, the forest is particularly rich in species of mushrooms and mosses (note, picking mushrooms in the area of the reserve is prohibited).

The entire route is shaded and is therefore also suitable for the summer months.
