The British sovereign underlined the importance of the Bundestag as a place capable of remembering history.

"It is very important for me to be here and to renew the special friendship between our countries", Carlo said later.
"This friendship meant a lot to my mother," he stressed.
"It is a great honor to welcome you to the German Bundestag", said the President of the Bundestag, Baerbel Bas.
"Our countries are and remain close allies and friends even after Great Britain leaves the EU".
"Both countries are for a rules-based world order. We share common values," she added.
"Security in Europe is also under threat, as are our democratic values," added the sovereign about the war in Ukraine.
"But we have courage", underlining the importance "of defending Ukraine, of peace and freedom".
Carlo then spoke of the "incomprehensible suffering" caused by the war in Ukraine to thousands of people, whose freedom is being "trampled underfoot".
The King of the United Kingdom Charles III entered his name in the Golden Book of the city of Berlin.
The event took place this morning at the Adlon Hotel, in the presence of the mayor of the German capital, Franziska Giffey.
Carlo's wife, Camilla, also signed the Book.
