(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MARCH 30 - The question of a possible exchange of prisoners with the US which also involves the Wall Street Journal journalist arrested in Russia "has not yet been discussed".
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov quoted by Tass.
When asked about it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov replied: "I don't have any information, I have nothing to say about it."
The question referred to a possible exchange with Serghei Cherkasov, a Russian detained in Brazil and recently indicted in the US on charges of being an agent of the Russian intelligence services.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he hoped that the US would not retaliate for the arrest of the Wall Street Journal journalist in Russia.
"Let's hope that this doesn't happen, and it mustn't happen," he said quoted by the Ria Novosti agency.
