With the sharp drop in the wholesale prices of energy products, the reference price of electricity for the typical family under protection in the second quarter of 2023 is reduced by 55.3%.

This was announced by Arera, specifying that the general system charges are reactivated for all electricity customers, including domestic users.

From 1 April 2023, the reference price of electricity for the average customer will be 23.75 euro cents per kilowatt hour, including taxes.

Implementing the provisions of the government in the decree approved on 28 March, Arera intervened by confirming the electricity and gas social bonuses for families with an Isee level of up to 15,000 euros.

For large families, with at least 4 dependent children,

the ISEE level rises from 20,000 to 30,000 euros

.

Arera recalls that the energy social bonuses in support of families "are disbursed directly in the bill to all entitled families" and that the ISEE "is valid for the calendar year and it is therefore important to resubmit the Single Substitute Declaration (DSU ) to get certified for 2023".

By implementing the provisions of the government in the decree approved on 28 March, Arera has canceled the general system charges also for the next quarter for all gas customers, while they are reactivated for all electricity customers, including domestic users.

Together with the enhancement of social bonuses, these are interventions that go hand in hand with the confirmation of the 5% VAT reduction on heat management, district heating and gas.

Again for gas, explains Arera,

For the electricity bill, the expenditure for the typical family

in the rolling year (between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023)

will be approximately 1,267 euros

, +33.7% compared to the previous year.

This is indicated by Arera, explaining that the growth in wholesale prices in the last year and their continued high levels (albeit decreasing) is still reflected in the overall expenditure for the electricity bill.

The typical family has average electricity consumption of 2,700 kWh per year and a committed power of 3 kW, specifies the Authority.

Assoutenti, 'on electricity savings of 793 euros per year per family'

- Assoutenti benefits "the very sharp drop in electricity tariffs decided by Arera, which will lead to record savings on an annual basis of 793 euros per family compared to current prices. The average electricity bill on the protected market, considered a typical household that consumes 2,700 kWh of energy per year, thus drops from the current 1,434 euros per year to 641 euros, approaching pre-crisis levels, but the return of system charges must be considered which, according to the data released today by Arera, will currently weigh around 82 euros per bill".

However, analyzes Assoutenti, "the new tariffs that will take effect in April are still 14% higher than those in force in the second quarter of 2021, and entailing a higher expenditure of 79 euros per year for families on the protected market compared to the same period two years ago."

"We now expect new interventions from the Government on the subject of bills, starting with a reform of system charges, an item that weighs 22% on Italians' electricity bills and includes taxes that have nothing to do with energy consumption, a real ATM to withdraw money from the Italians - says the president Furio Truzzi - We also invite the Government to pay the utmost attention to the extra-profits of the energy companies, because if astronomical gains are confirmed with the new financial statements of the companies, it will be essential to intervene, in particular on companies controlled by the State, in order to find resources and 'return' the money 'earned' with the extra profits to families to protect them from possible spikes in electricity and gas prices in the winter period".concludes Truzzi.
