The sadness of Lucio Dupuy's grandparents after the scandal in the Senate: "They are playing with the feelings of a dead child"

After the scandal that took place this Thursday in the Senate, where Kirchnerism wanted to impose its regulatory interpretation to impose its agenda, the grandparents of Lucio Dupuy, the child who was murdered in La Pampa, conveyed their "sadness and bitterness" for the failure of the treatment of the law aimed at addressing cases of child violence.

"We leave with a very bitter feeling

," said Ramón Dupuy, the grandfather of the murdered child, an act for which the child's mother and her partner were sentenced.

After the session ended, the grandparents spoke to journalists and reported: "Unfortunately we came with the feeling that we were taking the law to La Pampa, but the senators stood up."

The truth is that the opposition had to get up from the session before the government's attempt to impose an interpretation of the regulation that, in order to modify the order of the agenda, required it to gather two thirds of the body when it is usually approved by a simple majority and even by show of hands. .

"Now we hope they give a quorum for the law to be approved," Lucio's grandfather conveyed with dismay with a view to what may happen in the future in the Upper House, where there would be an agreement to reconvene on April 13.

Ramón Dupuy was with his wife Silvia Gómez and they followed from one of the boxes of the venue the development of the session that fell amid shouts and insults between legislators from the ruling party and the opposition.

Dupuy said that the approval of the so-called Lucio Law, which has the partial sanction of Deputies, fell "because of a game of politics, which should not exist when it comes to childhood."

"A lot would change with this law," said the grandfather, who assured that "new cases and complaints of child violence arrive every day."

The proposal was promoted by the pampean deputy of the PRO Martín Maquieyra, and already has half a sanction.

In November 2022, the Chamber of Deputies approved it with 228 votes in favor.

Lucio Dupuy died on November 26, 2021. But between December 15, 2020 and March 23, 2021, the child was admitted to different health centers in La Pampa five times to be treated for blows, fractures and trauma. 

At the beginning of February, Magdalena Espósito Valenti (25), the child's mother, and Abigail Páez (28), her partner, were found guilty of aggravated homicide for the crime of Lucio Dupuy.

Two weeks later, the life sentence for both was announced.
