(ANSA) - NAPLES, 03 APR - The San Carlo Theater reopens to the public after the restoration works and rediscovers the splendor of its historic hall and brings to light the Bourbon blue of its origins.
In some points inside the royal box, in fact, the interventions have revealed the ancient colors below the red and gold.
These portions of celestial coloring will remain visible so that they can be shown to the public.
The interventions were possible thanks to a 10 million euro loan from the Ministry of Culture and were presented this afternoon in the presence of Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano.
In addition to the stage, the renovation works involved the entire room and the ceiling with the canvas by Cammarano.
"The San Carlo is a great cultural institution not only in Naples but in Europe. Just scroll through the history books to understand the importance of this lyric-symphonic foundation and this theatre. Here is the history of opera and I could make a long list of the great masters that have followed one another here", said Sangiuliano, underlining that "the San Carlo must be a projection of the Italian imagination in the world".
"Today we admire the result of beautiful restorations that restore the splendor of the theater but also important interventions on the systems that also guarantee technological updating, greater comfort and energy savings that do not hurt", added the mayor of Naples and president of the SanCarlo Foundation, Gaetano Manfredi .
