He had fled from Milan. Moscow revokes arrest warrant for businessman. 'In these last especially difficult days, strong and reliable people have been close to me', the spy tycoon told the Ria Novosti news agency (ANSA)

Artyom Uss, the Russian businessman who escaped from house arrest in Milan where he was awaiting extradition to the US, is in Russia.

The Ria Novosti agency writes it.

For the Moscow tycoon he revoked the arrest warrant.

"I'm in Russia! - Uss, the son of the governor of Krasnoyarsk Alexander Uss told the Russian state agency -. In these last particularly difficult days, strong and reliable people have been close to me. Thanks to them!".

Artyom Uss, son of the governor of Siberia's Krasnoyarsk region, had broken his electronic bracelet and escaped house arrest on March 22, the day after the Milan Court of Appeal granted extradition to the United States for two of the four charges with which he is indicted in the US: "violation of the embargo" against Venezuela in a case of oil smuggling to China and Russia and an alleged "bank fraud".

"

The Italian Court - said Uss - on whose impartiality I counted at the beginning, has demonstrated its clear political partisanship

. Unfortunately, it is also ready to bow under the pressure of the American authorities".

The Russian Interior Ministry has revoked the arrest warrant

for Uss.

This was stated by his lawyer Alexei Tikhomirov, as reported by Interfax.

"Artyom Alexandrovich Uss is in Moscow - explains the lawyer - and today he voluntarily presented himself to the Investigation Department of the Russian Interior Ministry. He provided detailed answers to the questions posed to him about his case. Based on the results of this interrogation, the restriction measures of Artyom Alexandrovich were changed to travel restrictions".

In December 2022, the Moscow Tribunal validated an arrest warrant for Artyom Uss, who had been declared internationally wanted by Russian law enforcement agencies.

Russia has charged USS in absentia with laundering money or other assets illegally acquired by other people as part of an organized group.

On March 21, 2023, an appeals court in Milan upheld Uss's extradition to the United States.

On 24 March it emerged that Uss had escaped from house arrest.
