A cow crossed in front of the truck and to dodge it hit a car: two dead

Two people died in the early hours of this Wednesday after being hit head-on by a truck while driving along a route in the province of San Juan. 

The driver said that a cow ran into him.


The fatal accident occurred around 3 on

Route 141, near Cuestas de las Vacas

, in the Caucete department.

A refrigerator-type Scania truck that was transporting meat from Córdoba collided with a VW Gol, in which a man and a woman were traveling.


The occupants of the car, which was completely destroyed, died instantly.

They were identified as

Víctor Castro (32)

and

Antonia Pamela Ponce (28)

.

Both were from the Albardón department: one lived in Campo Afuera and the other in Villa San Martín.

- told the Police that he was forced to make

a sudden maneuver when a cow ran into him

, causing him to collide head-on with the car.

Regarding this version, the investigators were able to find traces of hair in the truck that apparently are from an animal.


In the first instance, the truck driver was arrested.
