In twenty years and seven albums, Albin de la Simone has carved out a place for himself in the landscape.
That of a careful craftsman, admired by his peers and followed by a fervent public.
His new album,
The Next Hundred Years
, is a real miracle.
The best record to date from this honest man who takes the risk of trying to do something new on each album.
“I struggle more and more to write, but I finally find myself better.
I feel like I'm continuing to put something together and getting stronger.
My luck is that I didn't have a big success at the start of my career
,” he explains with a smile.
This former plastic arts student, a graduate of the Saint-Luc Institute in Tournai, started out in music at the age of 17.
For a long time, this pianist evolved in formations of jazz obedience, before throwing in the towel, frustrated.
“In jazz, there is a competitive side, a high-level sport that did not satisfy me
,” he sums up.
