While the discounter is withdrawing the product from sale, customers are urgently warned against consumption:

Time to check the pantry: There is a recall for a cheese product from the discounter Kaufland.

As the manufacturer informs, listeria were detected in the affected article.

Kaufland reacted immediately and took the cheese out of sale as a precaution.

Anyone who finds it at home should by no means consume it, because listeria can cause serious damage to health, as reported by HEIDELBERG24.

Cheese Recall: Health Warning - Listeria has been detected in this product

The Kaufland cheese for which the recall was issued is the "K-Favourites Gorgonzola DOP mild" from the manufacturer VIP Vertriebitaliener Food Produkte GmbH.

The batch in the 200 gram pack is affected, with the GTIN 4337185458781 and the best before date (MHD) April 10, 2023.

While the specification in this case serves to restrict the items that are subject to the recall, the best-before date in its current form is also often misunderstood as an expiry date - which is why there may soon be a change in the specification.

As mentioned at the beginning, Kaufland's Gorgonzola cheese is being recalled because Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the product.

Cheese recall: Health warning - Listeria in Kaufland-Gorgonzola

Listeria are pathogens that should not be underestimated. They can still lead to listeriosis up to two weeks after ingestion through foods such as Kaufland cheese.

Flu-like symptoms, including diarrhea and fever, can be triggered by Listeria.

Listeria can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system.

In severe cases, blood poisoning and meningitis can occur, which can be fatal.

The cheese was sold in Kaufland branches in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

You can return the Gorgonzola affected by the recall in all branches.

As with other recalls, the purchase price will be refunded without a receipt.

This is also the case with the recent snack recall at dm and Rossmann, which warned of signs of poisoning.
