French President Emmanuel Macron has landed in Beijing for a three-day state visit to China, the Elysee said, his first trip to the country since 2019. The head of state will meet with the French community in the afternoon, before a busy day of talks on Thursday with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping and a trip to southern Canton on Friday.
Yesterday, US President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation with Macron, in view of his trip to China.
In making it known, the White House stressed that the two leaders "reaffirmed their support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's aggression".
Furthermore, the president of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Beijing on Thursday evening but, apart from her final appointment with Xi Jinping, the two will have different plans.
Von der Leyen will begin her visit with a meeting with the EU Chamber of Commerce in China.
Immediately afterwards you will have bilateral talks with Premier Li Keqiang.
At the conclusion of the mission, the trilateral meeting with Presidents Xi and Macron, followed by
a bilateral meeting of the number one of the EU executive with the Chinese President.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan will also meet tomorrow in the Chinese capital.

The two ministers plan to discuss the implementation of the agreement between Riyadh and Tehran, signed in Beijing on March 10, for the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries which had been interrupted in 2016 following an attack by of fundamentalists against the Saudi embassy in the Iranian capital, in response to the execution of a Shiite preacher in Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh and Tehran planned to reopen embassies in their respective countries within two months of signing the March 10 pact, which was brokered by China.
