When it comes to looking at the pay slip, there is good news for many employees.

From April, the higher tax allowances for employees that have been in force since January 1, 2023 will also be visible on the payslip.

More money for employees in some sectors

It affects, for example, painters, varnishers and numerous employees in the main construction trade:

  • Minimum wage for painters and varnishers is increasing

    : A new collective agreement has been in effect in the painting and varnishing trades since January.

    The minimum wage for journeymen will rise by 70 cents to 14.50 euros.

    For helpers, the lower wage limit will be raised by EUR 1.10 to EUR 12.50.

  • Tariff adjustments in the main construction trade:

    There are also higher wages for construction workers in April.

    "This is the third and last tariff adjustment for the construction industry before the collective agreement ends in March 2024," says the portal about the background.

    "There is an increase of 2 percent in the west tariff area and 2.7 percent in the east tariff area." The remuneration in the first year of training increases by 15 euros in the west and by 25 euros in the east.

    In addition, in the tariff zone east, the remuneration of trainees from the second to the fourth year of training will increase by 35 euros.

  • More money for temporary workers

    : According to reports, the collectively agreed minimum wage for temporary workers will be at least 13 euros per hour from April.

What commuters should know about the 49-euro ticket

From May 1st, passengers can travel nationwide in local and regional transport with the 49-euro subscription.

"The 49-euro monthly subscription for buses and trains in local and regional transport is now available," reported the German Press Agency on Monday (April 3).

Sales therefore began on Monday night on the online platforms and apps of the regional transport companies and associations as well as Deutsche Bahn.

"As soon as the customer centers of the transport companies open, the subscription can also be taken out there," said dpa on Monday morning.

The ticket is issued as an online ticket or as a chip card and can be canceled monthly as a subscription.

The monthly price is - as the name suggests - 49 euros.
