The study by Carleigh Sawicki and his team at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston suggests that switching from wheat and other refined grains to whole grains could benefit older people.

A positive effect of whole grain products on abdominal fat has been found in older and middle-aged people.

And not only that. Fat metabolism disorders and increased blood sugar levels are also weakened in the long term by the increased consumption of whole grain products, which reduces cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

The result: the waist circumference of the more than 3,000 study participants had decreased.

The systolic blood pressure and the blood lipid levels had also changed positively as a result of the change in diet to less processed grain.

Carbohydrates are hidden in many foods where you would not expect them to be.
