There were 17, with a total of 679 people, the landings registered in the space of 24 hours in Lampedusa.

The rescue operations began at 9 yesterday and continued - by the Guardia di Finanza, the Captaincy and Frontex structures - for the whole day.

Many women and children also landed on Lampedusa.

The various groups that arrived yesterday reported that they left from Zarzis, Chebba, Jebiniana and Kerkenna and paid up to 4,000 dinars to be able to get to Italy.

After 17 landings yesterday and 5 in the night, there are 1,436 migrants in the hotspot.

A 7-metre small boat, with 38 migrants on board and a body, was rescued off

, during the night by the Cp 303 patrol boat of the Coast Guard.

Also in the group are 11 women and 8 minors, originally from the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Cameroon and Nigeria.

The migrants reported that they left Sfax, Tunisia, at 8pm last Friday.

The body belongs to a Nigerian.

He would have died because, in the waters off Sfax, he was in the water to push the small boat out to sea.

He would have been caught, according to the very first information acquired by the Coast Guard and the police, by a sudden illness.

Hypothermia may have killed him.

On board the "cart" were 38 migrants, including the wife and three minor children of the deceased Nigerian.

The body has already been taken to the mortuary of the Cala Pisana cemetery.

Forty-two migrants, including 6 women and 5 minors, were surprised on the mainland of Cala Maluk by soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza lieutenant.

The boat used by the group to reach Lampedusa has not yet been found.

The disembarked reported to be from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Mali.

Meanwhile, Coast Guard patrol boats CP762 and 319 carried out two SAR interventions, rescuing respectively 45 (5 women and 1 minor) and 41 (2 women and 9 minors) migrants who reported having set sail from Sfax.

Since midnight, the number of landings on Lampedusa has risen to 8 with a total of 324 people.

Alarm Phone, 400 migrants in danger in the Mediterranean

Around 400 people are in danger in the Mediterranean, as reported by Alarm Phone in a tweet.

"During the night - explains the organization - we received a call from a boat in distress that left Tobruk, Libya. We informed the authorities, but no rescue operation was confirmed. Don't put 400 lives at risk: help immediately!"
