During the 1990s, Brooke Shields and Andre Agassi were spinning the perfect love - at least in appearance - and it lasted five years.

It was in 1994 that the

actress met the tennis champion, winner of 8 Grand Slam tournaments, including Roland-Garros in 1999.

Sitting opposite each other for the scene, they witness, disconcerted, the behavior of the American player.

“Everyone is laughing at me.

You make me look like an idiot by behaving like this!”, he would have launched, facing a cautious Brooke Shields.

“I explained to him that I was simply playing comedy,” she continues.

If he was known for his angry outbursts on the tennis courts, no one knew he acted that way in the private sphere.

The tennis champion leaves the shooting which takes place in Los Angeles, and takes the road immediately towards Las Vegas, where the couple lives at that time.

In rage, he smashes all his trophies on the ground, the fruits of his successes at the Wimbledon tournaments and the US Open in particular.

A “key moment”

However, years later, it is not the crises of her ex-husband that seem to matter to the actress.

On the set of “The View”, on March 31, Brooke Shields assured it: this filming corresponds to a “key moment” in her career.

The American even takes liberties, allowing herself a thunderous laugh that was not included in the script.

"Everything became clear to me: it was my instinct, they trusted me and it rang true," she continues.

A trigger that completely escaped the tennis player, struggling not only with his fits of anger, but also with addictions – which he knowingly killed.

Brooke Shields is flabbergasted, "later", when she learns "that he was addicted to methamphetamines".

"This irrational behavior was certainly due to that," she wants to believe today.

While in 1997, shortly after the incident, Agassi's ranking plunged - he fell to 122nd place in the world after reaching the heights - he justified his fall by his relationship problems.

They will end up saying goodbye by mutual agreement, two years later.

Andre Agassi has since rebuilt his life with German tennis champion Steffi Graf whom he married in 2001.
