No work experience?

In these four jobs, that's not a problem.

Another plus point: Even without practice, there are high starting salaries here.

Stuttgart - Keep your eyes open when choosing a career.

This is usually not just about skills, abilities and competencies, but also about how much professional experience you have.

But what if you have just finished your studies or training and have no practical experience?

No reason to despair, because there are enough jobs where you can start and pursue a career without professional experience.

Without any professional experience: These jobs offer a good starting salary

Finally, the bachelor thesis has been handed in or the vocational training completed and after years of sitting at school, it's time to go out into the big wide (working) world.

But where do you start when looking for the right job?

Keeping an overview in the job jungle with all the portals and platforms can be difficult.

A particularly deterrent: Most jobs require professional experience, in many cases at least three years.

As a career starter, you seem to have a bad hand.

But that's not the case: In many jobs it is also possible to start without practical experience.

And often with a good starting salary.

When the first salary ends up in the account, that is a special moment for young professionals.

The amount of income depends on the job, industry and position.

The job platform Stepstone has identified the professions that are most lucrative for young professionals without professional experience.

The median was used for this, a measured value that represents the mean value.

This means that exactly half of the young professionals earn more than the median, the other half earn less.

According to the Stepstone job platform, these four jobs are the most worthwhile financially as a career starter (as of 2022):

  • jurist

  • computer scientist

  • medic

  • engineer

1. Lawyer

Right from the start, lawyers in Germany have been among the top earners.

With a median gross starting salary of around EUR 62,000 per year, starting here is comparatively high.

However, the employer is also decisive here.

Anyone who gets their first job as a lawyer in a small law firm, for example, can expect an average starting salary of around 49,000 euros gross per year.

However, with an above-average degree, a career starter in a top law firm can easily earn 140,000 euros gross per year.

However, it is not without reason that the starting salaries for those with no professional experience are so high: the path to becoming a trained lawyer is a long one.

In Germany there are basically two ways to qualify for judicial office: studying law at a university or studying at a university of applied sciences for the administration of justice.

Studying law at a university usually lasts 9 to 10 semesters and concludes with the first legal examination, also known as the state examination.

After graduation, graduates have to complete a two-year legal clerkship, during which they gain practical experience at various stations and take additional exams.

At the end of the legal clerkship there is the second legal examination, which is referred to as the "big state examination".

Alternatively, graduates of a university of applied sciences for the administration of justice can enter the higher judicial service or the higher administrative service.

Studying at a university of applied sciences for the administration of justice usually lasts 6 to 8 semesters and concludes with the examination for the higher civil service.

Here, too, graduates have to complete a legal clerkship, which is shorter than that of university graduates.

2. Computer Scientist

The corona pandemic has shown at the latest that digitization is very important.

No wonder, then, that the demand for well-trained computer scientists and computer specialists is currently high.

Among other things, the profession of data entry is also in demand.

Four other jobs are well-paid career changers.

Demand is also causing computer scientist salaries to skyrocket, even for entry-level workers.

For graduates with a doctorate, the median starting salary is over EUR 60,000 gross per year.

Good money can be earned here even without a degree.

According to Stepstone, IT specialists without an academic degree can expect an annual salary of 36,800 euros.

The training usually lasts three years and can also be shortened to two and a half years.

During the training, one of four main areas is chosen: application development, system integration, digital networking or data and process analysis.

In many training occupations, a top salary beckons even without a degree.

3. Medic

It's no secret that doctors earn very well.

The fact that the starting salary for medical professionals is high is therefore not surprising.

After completing their medical studies, residents can expect a median gross annual salary of EUR 57,600.

Studying human medicine at a university usually lasts 6 years and concludes with the state examination.

The course imparts both theoretical and practical knowledge in various areas of medicine.

After their studies, prospective doctors must acquire the license to practice medicine, which enables them to be recognized as doctors by the state.

Various requirements must be met for this, such as successful completion of the state examination and proof of a certain level of practical activity.

In order to obtain a specialist title, doctors must complete several years of further training in the relevant specialty.

The duration of the further training varies depending on the subject and is usually between 5 and 6 years.

This is not the end of the training.

After completing their training, doctors must pass a specialist examination in order to receive the specialist title.

The exam consists of a written and an oral part.

4. Engineer

Engineers also expect a high starting salary.

How high this is sometimes depends on the degree.

Bachelor graduates earn about 45,300 euros gross annual salary as an engineer.

With a master's degree, an annual starting salary of 50,000 euros gross is possible.

Similar to the computer scientists, there is also a wide field of activity for engineers.

Engineering is divided into numerous different disciplines, and there are a corresponding number of courses.

These include civil engineering, electrical engineering or industrial engineering.

These five courses also promise high salaries.

All four well-paid jobs without work experience summarized again:

Profession

Median gross annual salary

jurist

62,000 euros

computer scientist

60,000 euros

medic

57,600 euros

engineer
