Meta has chosen the Luiss Guido Carli University of Rome to analyze the impact that immersive technologies are having on the education sector with an academic study.
The collaboration - reads a note - is part of a European research program set up by the parent company of Facebook which involves 5 academic institutions, experts and think-tanks from as many countries including the University of Glasgow, the Esade of Barcelona , France Immersive Learning and Straightlabs in Germany.
Luiss University focused, in particular, on measuring the impact of virtual reality (VR) in learning and collaboration processes in the managerial field with 12 researchers who conducted a three-month comparative test between immersive reality and the environment 2D, in which about 90 students from the University's Advanced Marketing Management course took part.
"One of the most significant results of the test - says the release - is the ability of VR technologies to generate a great sense of telepresence and separation from the physical dimension: in fact, the students underlined how they felt much more in virtual spaces". within the environment they were seeing and hearing' and 'engaged and immersed in the experience', as opposed to 2D environments".
"We believe that the metaverse will have a significant impact in the field of education, as demonstrated by our academic study", said Simona Romani, Dean of the Graduate School of the Luiss University, and Marco Francesco Mazzù, Professor of Marketing Practice at the University Luiss.
“Immersive technologies have enormous potential to transform the world of education and training,” added Angelo Mazzetti, Head of Institutional Affairs at Meta in Italy.
In an official post, Nick Clegg, Meta's President for Global Affairs, outlined the four key priority areas of focus in education and training.
