(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, APRIL 12 - "The European Commission has taken note of Italy's decision to declare a state of emergency on migrants: it is a national measure and originates from a very difficult situation due to the increase in the number of arrivals".
This was stated by a spokeswoman for the EU executive, specifying that before commenting on the specific measures envisaged by the decree, the Commission will have to "examine the envisaged rules in detail".
The Commission is "in contact" with the Italian authorities and notes that it has reacted to the difficult situation in the central Mediterranean with the dedicated action plan, launched last year.
