The 2023 edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan marks the return of Chinese visitors, after years of hiatus due to the Covid pandemic and, one week before the start, an encouraging +25% in ticket sales compared to last year.
The premises are good for the launch of the 61st edition of the reference event for the furniture sector which will be held from 18 to 23 April at the Fiera di Milano in Rho.

The event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, "this is to underline the importance of the Salone del Mobile for the whole country", underlines the president of the Salone del Mobile Maria Porro.
The day before, Monday 17 April, the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa will be present at the event, open to a thousand guests, which anticipates the inauguration of the Salone at the Scala theater in Milan.
And then, during the six-day event at the fair, there will be many representatives of the government: the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti, the of Tourism Daniela Santanchè, of Education Giuseppe Valditara, of Companies and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, of
Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and Anna Maria Bernini University and Research.
At the inauguration of the event there will also be a crowned head, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

There are 2,000 exhibitors who have currently confirmed their presence, on a net exhibition area of 169,281 square metres.
"We have 34% of foreign exhibitors - adds Porro - and for this reason the Exhibition confirms itself as an international reference point, we have the best of production from all over the world".
The 2023 edition marks the return of China which climbs the rankings and as visitors comes second after Italy.
The top five countries by presence are currently Italy, China, Brazil and the USA.
Then there are Germany, France, Switzerland, South Korea, Spain and the UK.
India is sixteenth and Russia is nineteenth.
One week after the ribbon cutting, ticket sales are up 25% on last year.
In general, the wood furniture sector closes 2022 with a 12.6% increase in turnover compared to 2021, driven by exports.
"Overall - explains Claudio Feltrin president of Federlegnoarredo - we look at 2023 as the year of adjustment and it could be realistic to think of a +5% closing of the year for furnishings, mainly driven by exports".
Sustainability will also be at the center of the 2023 Salone: the event has embarked on the path that will lead it, in these days, at the end of the event, to obtain the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable management.
