We may be talking about one of the best-known comfort dishes in the world.
Chili con carne is a stew with beef, beans and, of course, chilies.
Do not panic when you see the list of ingredients: the vast majority are easily accessible, and if you are missing any, the world does not end either.
What I am describing here is what I consider to be the base of a tasty chili con carne, which for me should have different types of chili that cover warm, smoky, dried fruit aromas and so on until reaching freshness.
That is why I recommend a combination of choricero or ñora, chipotle, ancho, urfa and jalapeño to finish off, but it is perfectly valid if you only have two or three of them.
Oddly enough, this dish with more than 20 ingredients can be prepared in 15 to 20 minutes if we start with minced meat and canned beans.
It is also extremely grateful, since you can add as many things as you like: anchovies, cured cheese rind, miso, fish sauce, soy sauce, nutritional yeast, ground coffee, chocolate or doubanjiang are just a few examples of ingredients that They add a lot of flavor and umami.
None of them are listed below, but if you have one, use it, because it will greatly enrich the final result.
Thanks to this, making alternatives such as a vegan chili is a piece of cake.
Once we have everything, we only have to think about how to serve it.
A bit of aromatic herbs such as cilantro, basil or chives will go great,
as would a dollop of thick Greek yogurt or crème fraîche.
And if we have left over, to the freezer.
Difficulty:
It has a good number of ingredients, but all of them are fairly accessible.
