There is usually a maximum parking time in the supermarket car park.

If that is exceeded, it can be expensive - a Lidl customer speaks of a rip-off.

Munich – Anyone who goes shopping in the supermarket usually parks their car in the associated parking lot.

Consumers are generally allowed to park there for between one and two hours while shopping.

If this time is exceeded, it can be expensive.

Expensive visit to the supermarket: Exceeding the parking time becomes expensive

Most motorists should accept a fine for speeding.

The ticket for parking too long in supermarket parking lots is certainly harder to swallow.

At Lidl, the maximum parking time is usually between 60 and 90 minutes.

Lidl does not check compliance with the parking rules itself, “we have transferred this to companies specializing in this,” as the discounter writes.

One of these companies is Parkdepot, some of which even use systems with license plate recognition and no parking disc.

A Lidl customer was now extremely upset about the enforcement of penalties for exceeding the maximum parking time: "Warning!

Lidl has its customers ripped off by Parkdepot!” she wrote on Facebook.

Her problem: Since she clearly exceeded the maximum parking time of 60 minutes, a contractual penalty of 25 euros was due - according to her own statements, she parked in the parking lot for 42 minutes too long.

For them, "the price is not proportionate, for example, if you consider the prices in parking garages." A Lidl campaign over Easter also backfired.

Is the fine legal in a supermarket parking lot?

As the Lidl customer also stated on Facebook, from her point of view, 60 minutes is often not enough for a purchase.

"60 minutes are too short for a bulk purchase with children, comparing prices, looking at special offers and also for older people." She cannot understand what Lidl expects from this: "It does not create any added value for customers." As she finally wrote , a clear line is now being drawn: “Lidl has lost me as a customer.

Please consider whether renting out the parking spaces to rip-offs is necessary and child-friendly.”

In addition to tickets for parking too long, some companies in charge of monitoring the parking lot even go so far as to have cars towed away.

As the ADAC writes, among other things, fines and towing are legal.

Anyone who parks in the customer car park tacitly concludes a contract with the owner.

The conditions for parking there are usually on the same sign, which also shows the maximum parking time.

All legal, but not necessarily a joy for customers.

As the ADAC points out, only fines for illegal parking are permitted.

Collection fees and legal fees are therefore only justifiable if the illegal parker refuses to accept the penalty payment and is therefore in default.

If consumers do not pay the fines, there is a risk of significantly higher costs.

The complaining Lidl customer also acknowledged that "the procedure there is legally correct." Not only at Lidl are there problems in the parking lot: Edeka also distributes penalties to illegal parkers.
