Miss Figaro.

-

How did you feel last night when you went on stage to receive the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award?

Morfydd Clark.

-

I still can't believe I received this award.

I am so touched and honoured.

I'm actually quite scared when I go on stage to speak for myself.

So, just before my intervention, the Madame Figaro

team

encouraged me backstage, and said to me: “You can do it!”

It's a great honor and I'm so happy to have received this award.

Acting is not an individual quest.

I am constantly inspired by my loved ones.

Morfydd Clark

You told

Madame Figaro

that you admire the previous winners of this trophy...

Daisy Edgar-Jones (

Normal People

) is simply wonderful, Sydney Sweeney (

Euphoria

) is fantastic, as is Phoebe Dynevor (

The Bridgerton Chronicle

).

I love watching what they play, and I can't wait to see what's next for them.

When you received the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award, you thanked your agent, Kate, and your sister, for being by your side.

How do they support you on a daily basis?

Acting is not an individual quest.

I am constantly inspired by my loved ones.

I've always discussed with my sister the characters I play.

She is very intelligent - she really brought them a new dimension.

As for Kate, she landed me amazing roles, introduced me to lots of people, made me read the right scripts.

She really encouraged me and took care of me over the years.

imaginary worlds

JRR Tolkien, author of The

Lord of the Rings

, holds a special place in your heart.

Why ?

As far back as I can remember, I've always dreamed of fantasy worlds, and I think it's tied to the heroic

fantasy

works I've read and watched.

These magical universes gave me a sense of security.

When I was little, my father read me

The Hobbit

and many other fantastic stories, and they were like a refuge for me.

They bring me a kind of serenity.

As far back as I can remember, I've always dreamed of imaginary worlds

Morfydd Clark

How did you prepare for the role of Galadriel, your character in

The Rings of Power

?

I practiced a lot before doing my stunts.

I especially did rock climbing.

Especially since Galadriel is an elf, and these creatures are elite in terms of physical prowess.

With my filming partners, we also listened to audio books on Middle Earth.

If you saw us listening to something in the street, it was not music, but works on the universe of JRR Tolkien.

This allowed us to immerse ourselves in this imaginary world and soak up its atmosphere.

What is your best filming memory?

I loved galloping through the forest.

I had never ridden a horse before, so the closest thing to magic for me was climbing like an elf.

But now that I've ridden through the forest, I find it incredible.

Audacity and courage

What do you have in common with your character?

What makes you different?

Many things differentiate me from Galadriel.

I don't think I have the same thirst for power.

I don't see myself exercising any profession other than that of an actress, because I like being directed by directors, being a kind of intermediary with the public.

I also had to get rid of this tendency that I sometimes have as a woman to make myself smaller, to want to appear softer, because that does not correspond to the character of Galadriel.

As for what I have in common with her, I've always liked mythical creatures.

They are different from the others, and I think a lot of people feel, like them, a little apart.

In any case, I would like to look more like Galadriel.

She is bold and courageous.

Many things differentiate me from Galadriel.

I don't think I have the same thirst for power.

Morfydd Clark

Did you expect the series to receive such a positive reception from the public?

Before the show came out, I was terrified (laughs).

I've been on stage many times, and I've done several films that came out shortly after the shooting, but for this project, there was a long period of post-production.

The teams did a wonderful job, but the wait was almost unbearable.

Once the

Rings of Power

came out, I released the pressure.

Its success was no longer in our hands.

Now I love reading fan theories, and seeing them create different communities around the show.

Back to School

What do you like most about shooting a series, that you don't necessarily find on the set of a film?

They are two very different things.

What appealed to me about being an actress is that when a film shoot ends, you can go straight to the next project.

But it's just as interesting to shoot in a series.

When we return to the set to shoot a new season, we have the impression that it's back to school.

It's precious to be able to find my character and the other members of the cast.

I cry a lot in front of the series

Morfydd Clark

What is the best series you have seen this year?

This is

The English: United in Vengeance

, a BBC series.

It tells the story of an Englishwoman who lands in the wild west of the United States to get revenge on the man she holds responsible for the death of her son.

The actors are wonderful, and it's one of the most moving programs I've ever seen.

I remember after watching the last episode, I went shopping, and I started crying thinking about it.

I cry a lot in front of the series (Laughs).

What is your favorite series of all time?

It's

Black Sails

, a show centered on pirates.

It's a prequel to

Treasure Island

, with great actors and amazing stunts.

Besides, pirates are so cool...
