The examination of the migrant decree in the Senate hall has been postponed to tomorrow morning.

This is what emerged from the conference of the group leaders of Palazzo Madama which met in the afternoon.

Today at 16.30 the assembly started the discussion on the decree for the temporary protection of people coming from Ukraine, approved by the Chamber.

The deadline for presenting the amendments to the basic text of the migrant decree to be examined by the Senate remains set at 19.30 today.

It being understood that if the government proposes its own amendments again (as it did last week in the Constitutional Affairs commission), that term will be reopened.

This is what emerged from the conference of the group leaders of Palazzo Madama which met in the afternoon.

At the end of the group leader, the Pd and Avs assured that they will resubmit the amendments proposed in the commission.

The decree, not having received the go-ahead from the Constitutional Affairs commission also for the many amendments still to be voted on, will arrive in the Chamber in its original version, that is, as it was approved by the government in Cutro.

This morning the Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Senate interrupted the examination of the Cutro decree, without being able to conclude the voting on the amendments.

The decree will therefore go to the Chamber today at 16.30 without the mandate to the rapporteur.

This was announced by the president of the Commission, Alberto Balboni, when there were more than 200 amendments to vote on.

At 16.30 Balboni explained at the end of the Commission session, the House will vote on the preliminary rulings presented by the opposition, and the general discussion will begin.

The Conference of group leaders, convened today at 3.30 pm - Balboni explained again - will have to fix the deadline within which to present the amendments, "presumably by tonight, so that from tomorrow we can start voting for them".

"The divisions within the majority on special protection have prevented the continuation of the work of the first commission of the Senate on the migrant decree

. The League did not trust the allies and maintained all the amendments on which the government did not even have the courage to give opinions. We go to the Chamber without a rapporteur after a discussion in the committee, I would say surreal. According to the Lega and FdI, migrants arrive en masse on our shores because they know that we treat them well, for the tam tam on special protection (copyright La Russa) and not because they are fleeing wars, hunger and famine. A completely wrong and propaganda narrative of immigration".

This was stated by the group leader of the Green and Left Alliance Peppe

De Cristofaro,

"Removing special protection, changing our reception system for the worse, appointing a commissioner who will have special powers from the state of emergency - he added - is only a way to transform migrants into new illegal immigrants, ghosts who will roam our cities but , above all, to continue not to resolve the migration/integration issue. I would not like it to be better for the right to have illegal immigrants around who are useful for propaganda rather than foreign men and women to be given a chance for integration and a new life". concludes De Cristofaro.
