Most of the schnitzels I've eaten in my life were okay. This schnitzel beats them all - voila! Food

Yes, definitely worth it.

What time is it right to have lunch?

Many experts debated this issue, which became more complex over the years.

What is lunch anyway?

Doesn't an English breakfast, the one we eat in every European hotel with the bacon and hot beans and steaming potatoes, count as such?

To all the columns of "Rosie HaToam"

in this context, a story I tell more than once with a spark of battle heritage that even the veterans of the Yom Kippur War could not imitate is how during the army days, somewhere in the early 90's, I got off at the central station in Jerusalem on my lap in 8:30 in the morning.

No one has any way of knowing if it really happened, after all, some schwarmier really opens at such an hour, but this is what I've been telling for more than 30 years, and as George from Seinfeld said - it's not a lie if you believe it.

Not the ideal place.

I ordered.

It was morning, the guys barely opened their eyes, but the chicken breast started to fry, and after about fifteen minutes it came out, fresh and waiting only for me

Now let's ask the question - what is the right time to eat schnitzel?

If you ask me, 10:00 am.

And why 10:00?

Because this is exactly the time when "Etty's Bun" is opened.

If they had opened an hour or two before, I probably would have talked about other hours, but this is the time, and this time it is not a lie.

When I put "Etty's bun" in Wise, following a warm recommendation from the creator of the man who brought me to the divine "Falafel Gozel", I fell on the address "Commando Square 3".

I imagined myself arriving and meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger grabbing a frightened criminal by the legs and muttering "Remember I said I'd kill you last? I lied", but instead I came across a rather desolate and very unkempt square.

There are nicer and newer places in Lod, Commando Square is not one of them.

It was stuck in the eighties, around the time Schwarzenegger broke into the popular film as Colonel John Matrix.

But we're not dealing with views, but with food, so I stood in front of "Etty's bun".

This name is a bit misleading, because the only type of meat there that is served in a bun is schnitzel.

And what about the rest?

The place specializes in homemade food.

This means - if you came to eat meat combined with dough, you have no other options.

A bit boring, but if there is no choice, there is no choice.

I ordered.

It was morning, the guys barely opened their eyes, but the chicken breast started to fry, and after about fifteen minutes it came out, fresh and waiting only for me.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw how the plates of prepared food were starting to fill up.

If I had arrived an hour later, they would have already been arranged for me, ready to be served.

The first bite is inviting, the second bite already knocks you down

Is this one of the most talked about shawarmas in Tel Aviv?

At 10:00 am the eggplants are ready, most of the food is not.

Most of the schnitzels I ate were reasonable to good, in most of them I also received larger portions than the gate, but "Etti's bun" wins in all aspects

So I got my schnitzel portion (NIS 40) along with small samples of homemade food on the side (hummus and couscous) at the expense of the house.

I'll admit it and not be ashamed - most of the schnitzels I ate were reasonable to good, in most of them I also got large portions from the gate, but "Etti's bun" wins in all aspects.

First, because the bun is perfect, especially when you come with the opening and it's still boiling and steaming.

The schnitzel itself was of high quality and went well with the stew and the fried eggplant.

The price is also relatively low, although of course there is a function of location here, and schnitzel in Lod is not schnitzel in Givatayim or Ra'anana.

As for the small side dishes, from the few I've tasted, this is quality homemade food.

I usually don't trust places that serve stews, since they are usually industrialized and lose, as expected, the homely flavor.

From the small sample, and I say this carefully, there is something to work with.

I regretted not taking it home, although the early hour left me no choice anyway and there was no time to wait.

So how did it come out?

The KMA index refers to quantity, price and quality on a scale of 1 to 10, but sometimes also includes other variables. In this case, what spoils "Etty's bun" is the lack of selection. Why can't a place that boasts, and rightfully so, about its wonderful bun produce two more Or three meat dishes to choose from?

This is the only significant drawback I found here, apart from the accessibility.

It's not an easy place to get to, and you don't stop by it by the way.

You have to look for parking, and it will be tens or even hundreds of meters from the destination.

But to be fair - as a food dish, "Etti's bun" provides one of the best and most satisfying schnitzels in the central region, and all this at a reasonable price.

Therefore the score is 8.5 for this breakfast.

Sorry, for lunch.

Yes, 10:00 am is definitely noon, and no one will tell you otherwise.
