"Success is starting to hurt our family," warns Inès Rabineau on her TikTok account.
The daughter of the bakery manager who appears recurring in
Emily In Paris
expresses her fed up, following the myriad of negative comments that her father, Thierry Rabineau, receives every day.
The latter, owner of the now famous “Boulangerie Moderne”, in the heart of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, is in fact coming under criticism from disappointed tourists.
And for good reason: the character of Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, delights in her very first pain au chocolat when she arrives in the capital... and returns there, throughout the three seasons, to taste French pastries. .
An obvious spotlight for the Rabineaus, which also has a price: the expectations of fans of the series, very high.
This is what the young woman deplores, who often comes to lend a hand to her father on her TikTok account.
She says he is "particularly saddened by the situation", to the point where he now calls her every evening.
“Unfortunately, a lot of people come and expect to have something crazy when we are just a very classic bakery”, she regrets.
According to her, customers are not shy about venting their frustrations in the “reviews” section of Google.
"A high price for not much!", "The worst croissant I've tasted", "It's very expensive... Emily in Paris is good cinema!", they write, acerbic.

A place that is still as popular as ever
If they sell their “€1.30” croissants, and “[are] not there to sell you dreams”, it is thanks to tourism that the Boulangerie Moderne is doing well, despite the criticisms.
Thanks to all these visitors, the establishment has joined the top 20 of the best croissants in Paris... An award which the manager struggles to satisfy, somewhat disturbed by this wave of criticism: "I no longer want to have messages on Google, it affects us: we break our feet to be able to do things well and we massacre our work like that…”, he confided, on April 19, on Le Figaro
TV
.
Despite these doubts, the bakery continues to make its butter thanks to tourists, whose purchases represent “up to 40%” of its weekly turnover.
Enough to ensure the future of the establishment, and to make you want to continue the adventure elsewhere.
Thierry Rabineau has received offers to expand internationally, particularly in Riad, Saudi Arabia.
A franchise project “still in negotiation”, he confides to journalists from
BFM TV
, which would undoubtedly not have been possible without the series.
The baker therefore assures him despite everything: he will “never regret having said yes to the rental of the premises”.
