A difficult path that could end with economic damage for the subjects who hold the 413,000 policies at risk".
For this reason Codacons, "if an adequate solution is not found to protect policyholders who have invested their money in the Eurovita police, is ready to take the field and start all the necessary legal initiatives, including a class action against banks, consultants and intermediaries who have placed the policies with the public and therefore have direct responsibilities towards customers".
"As has been done for banks at risk of bankruptcy, - explains Federconsumatori - a national solution is soon needed for Eurovita too. The State must intervene, perhaps by promoting a consortium of insurance companies that take over the shares of the company, otherwise the savings of the policyholders I'm at risk."
Federconsumatori Parma has organized a meeting for 26 April, at 6 pm, together with the lawyer Marcello Spaggiari, to inform and take the first concrete steps for the protection of savers.
Extraordinary administration for Eurovita started at the end of March but a "market solution" is being worked on in a short time that involves, for various reasons, insurance and banking entities while policy redemptions remain frozen until June.
For the insurance company, which ended up in difficulty on the capital also following the increase in interest rates, the decree of Mimit (the ministry for companies and Made in Italy) has arrived, on a proposal from IVASS of the administrative and control bodies.
