Stefano Bollani could therefore only baptize Blooming, in the name of the spring that blooms all around, starting a new life cycle, the new album for piano solo, out tomorrow.
"It was like imagining an explosion of images and sounds, the idea behind the project was to look at the marvel that is music from different angles".
Fifteen tracks, intimate and passionate.
"These songs flowered in the garden of my piano, I watered, fed and pruned them if necessary and now they are gathered here in a bouquet that is this record - explains Bollani -. They are very different flowers, but born from the same humus and in the same period" .
The first shoots of the journey took root during the television experience of Via Dei Matti n.
0, together with his wife Valentina Cenni (who developed the graphic design of the album with drawings by Laura D'Amico), where the first songs saw the light.
After the album's release, the journey will continue live in Italy and with three dates also abroad.
In his music Bollani mixes genres, from jazz to South American sounds, feeding on all those magical suggestions and moments that the pianist has experienced on stages around the world.
"The songs were born during the last year, even in the studio, as an exercise. I wanted to experiment with some Brazilian, Argentinian sounds. And they are there, even in the titles of the songs", explains the pianist and maestro, who adds: "Giving titles is really one of the most complicated things: I play and I play, until I see a cinematic image. And then comes the title".
And speaking of cinema, a few days ago the nomination for best song for the David di Donatello was also received for Il Pataffio by Francesco Lagi.
The release of Blooming (distributed by Sony Music) is also an opportunity to return to playing live after a period of inactivity.
"Playing is always the way for me to bring joy.
