The Kenyan pastor Ezekiel Odero, much better known than the "colleague" preacher Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, the founder of the so-called "fasting sect" linked to the death of dozens of followers, was held under arrest on charges of causing the death of some of his followers.
Meanwhile, with the exhumation of another 11 bodies which took place yesterday as reported by the media citing the police, the number of faithful who died due to Nthenge's instigation to fast to have heavenly visions has risen to 109.
Coastal Kilifi county authorities were awarded custody of Odero for another 30 days, because they believe that even in his "New life prayer church"
Furthermore, according to the press release given by the police to the media, the investigations established that some suspicious deaths in the headquarters of the Odero church in Mavueni are linked to the "fasting cult" and that "after the death of innocent and vulnerable believers, their bodies stored in a private morgue, before being transported and buried in Shakahola Forest".
