A hairstylist shows the right way to wash your hair (TIKTOK)
Most of us dream of longer, thicker hair that resists every comb and brush.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if it's curly or straight, blonde or brown, hair tends to dry out - making it look bad.
Nicole Petty is a hair expert who was interviewed by the British website The Mirror and claimed there that there is a daily mistake that many of us make that can contribute to that unwanted look - the temperature at which we comb our hair.
"Hot water can help products penetrate deep into the hair, but it can also strip the hair of its natural oils, causing dryness and excessive oil production to compensate for a dry scalp," Petty explained.
"This can cause scalp flaking and itching, resulting in hair breakage."
Instead, Patty recommends washing your hair with lukewarm water to preserve the natural oils in your hair and maintain moisture.
"Try to wash your hair in water no hotter than 38°C to minimize dandruff and help hair look shinier, as cooler water helps seal the hair cuticle responsible for shine and locking in moisture."

But we are not only wrong about the temperature of the water, and there is another key factor that can damage our hair.
One of the biggest questions people find themselves asking is how often we should wash our hair, and there's a lot of conflicting information out there.
Some say that you really shouldn't wash every day, while others say that it's important to wash every day to get all the oil and dirt off your head.
Fortunately Nicole has the answers, but it's not entirely simple.
"How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type and lifestyle, but over-washing is a common mistake that can damage hair. Over-washing can strip the natural oils and dry out the hair, leaving it prone to breakage and thinning, damaging the natural shine and increasing oil secretion to restore lost moisture and remove You color your hair faster."
According to her, you should avoid washing your hair more than 2-3 times a week.
"Hair that becomes greasy quickly may indicate overwashing. If this is the case, try using a dry shampoo to extend the length of time between washes and avoid using ingredients like sulfates, parabens, and alcohol."
