For the first time in Israel: modular construction methods will be incorporated into construction processes.

This, after the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Innovation Authority announced the two winning companies (Yishramerin of the Y.H. Demari Group; Modulart Construction Technologies) who together will receive a grant of NIS 11 million - in order to demonstrate the benefits of the modular method, which enables a significant shortening of the construction period, and to prove its feasibility in Israel

This method is carried out in several advanced countries in the world, in high-rise residential buildings with a high level of architecture and design.

At the same time, leading studies, detailing the advantages of the method, indicate a shortening of the duration of execution by dozens of percent, saving manpower and increasing work productivity, improving the quality of construction, increasing safety at construction sites, reducing construction waste and moving the construction industry towards production processes that combine digitization, robotics and automation.

A financial grant of NIS 11 million - to demonstrate the benefits of the method

Recently, as mentioned, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Innovation Authority issued a first call of its kind, designed to promote the modular construction method as a large-scale and significant element in the construction processes in Israel.

At the end of the inspection procedure, the proposals of the company "Yishramarin of the Y.H. Demari Group" and the company "Modulart Construction Technologies" were selected.

These companies will receive a financial grant, in the total amount of approximately 11 million shekels, for the benefit of the promotion of the construction industry for the implementation of the innovative construction method - the modular one in saturated residential construction, while erecting residential buildings using the method while integrating the authorized body for testing and approving new construction methods at the Technion - in order to demonstrate the benefits The modular method and to prove its feasibility in Israel.

According to the method, the production of the residential modules in a manufacturing plant - guarantees precision and quality at the construction level.

In addition, the assembly of the modules at the construction site allows for a significant shortening of the construction period.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Innovation Authority have invested NIS 15 million over the past 3 years to promote technological innovation in the construction industry, while supporting technology companies and manufacturing companies from the construction industry with grants for research and development programs and the implementation of new technologies. The selected technologies deal with advanced materials, the development of construction materials and construction methods which lead to improved work productivity, shorter execution times, improved planning quality and advantages in environmental and safety aspects.

Yehuda Morgenstern, Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing: "The Ministry of Construction and Housing sees the promotion of innovation in the construction industry as a significant means of dealing with housing challenges. I believe that the assimilation of innovative methods In the construction industry, it will enable development and efficiency in the industry, and at the same time it will lead to increased productivity, shorter work times and improved quality of planning and execution. I wish success to the winning companies and am sure that this is only the beginning of the modular system in Israel."

Dror Bin, CEO of the Innovation Authority: "The construction industry is developing all over the world and new technologies are making their way to the construction sites, the same in Israel.

After a thorough examination, we recognized that modular construction is a disruptive technology for the construction industry, and has the power to promote a new high-tech branch of construction technologies from Israel, alongside an emerging industry with high productivity in Israel.

We chose to promote modular construction as part of a reality-altering project, as a technology that has the power to fundamentally change the construction industry in Israel by shortening the construction time by about 50%, increasing the quality of construction and safety on the sites, and making a significant contribution to the climate goals with increased energy efficiency and reduction of environmental damage.

We are happy to see Israeli companies, which were chosen to perform a technological demonstration of the method, promoting the construction of knowledge and methods to advance the industry."
