The second edition of Up2Stars kicks off, the program dedicated to the enhancement and growth of innovative startups in Italy, conceived by Intesa Sanpaolo in collaboration with the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, which will involve 40 young entrepreneurial realities.
With a market share of innovative startups of almost 32%, for the banking group, "growth and innovation of the entrepreneurial system are essential objectives", underlines Virginia Borla, executive director of Business Governance Banca dei Territori Intesa Sanpaolo.
"On the one hand we support the development of the traditional production system, on the other we intervene on the levers of competitiveness through the innovation typical of startups, in line with the core objectives of the Pnrr".
After the first edition of Up2Stars - which ended with an event in Milan and saw the candidacy of over 600 startups, of which 40 were selected - "we are renewing the program by extending the collaboration to the national research centers and extended partnerships, and the horizon of startups thanks to internationalization prospects, with the creation of a large innovation ecosystem", also thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Innovation Center in San Francisco, set up at Innovit.
Among the partnerships there is also the one with the nine European Innovation Poles (EDIH).
The second edition of Up2Stars will focus on four new themes, strategic for the country's economy, to which the related calls will be dedicated.
It ranges from
application of technologies in the water sector and in water management (watertech) to renewable energies;
from AI for business transformation to IoT for infrastructure and mobility.
As in the previous edition, a maximum of 10 startups will be selected in each call, for a total of 40 that will access the acceleration program provided by the partner Gellify (innovation platform with offices in Italy and abroad), and will have the opportunity to meet coaches, mentors and investors, create networking and facilitate meetings with mature companies.
At the end of this path, they will present their business to an audience of investors and companies during a demo day.
It starts with startups active in the watertech sector,
in the logic of attention to the technological solution to problems of great impact, such as drought.
In the first call there will therefore be companies specialized in: protection of natural buffers against flood risks;
extreme weather events and coastal erosion;
rainwater harvesting;
soil management;
reuse of waste water;
improvement of water infrastructure;
water production with new technologies.
Interested startups can submit their application by 11 June 2023 via the dedicated page on the banking group's website.
