With less than a week until the Google I/O 2023 developer conference on May 10, Microsoft is ahead of the competition.

The American giant has in fact presented some updates that push the use of artificial intelligence on the web.

It starts with the expansion, to all navigators, of the experience of the Bing search engine powered by Gpt-4, the same language that made the OpenAi ChatGpt chatbot famous, an organization in which Microsoft has invested in recent months.

Bing is also enriched with a web search experience more focused on photos and videos, with the company explaining how these types of content can become the main method of use on the internet.

"Research shows that the human brain processes about 60 visual information.

000 times faster than text.

This makes visual tools a fundamental way for people to search, create and understand" the words of Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer of Microsoft. Bing, now in Open Preview i.e. freely accessible without waiting lists, will show more search results consisting of photos and videos and not just text.

It will also do so by "reading" the context of a page you are visiting, for example by opening a chat window with information about booking a table if you are visiting a restaurant website or summarizing the core of a scientific text or report of analysis.

All features that Google is also working on with Magi, its new search engine destined to be unveiled on May 10th.

The development of Bing with ChatGpt goes hand in hand with the improvement of Edge, the browser that replaced Internet Explorer in Microsoft projects.

A program, before the advent of Bing AI, of little success but which with the novelty of artificial intelligence has gained users and popularity.
