“I am moved by the sincerity and journey of each of these creators”

Madame Figaro

.

– When discussing with young designers, you told them how happy you were to be the ambassador for the LVMH Prize this year.

What does this award mean to you?

Sophia Turner.

The LVMH Prize is much more than an event, because the future of young people who have dedicated their lives to what they believe in is at stake.

I am moved by the sincerity and journey of each of these creators.

We feel in them an urgency to create, but also the awareness of being ready to accomplish missions that require extreme demands.

This award is a breeding ground for ideas that inspires, stimulates creativity and imposes itself to capture the zeitgeist,

the spirit of the times , before others

.

Have you known Delphine Arnault

for a long time?

Delphine is a powerful woman who evolves in the high spheres of fashion.

When I met her in 2016, I was intimidated.

I was wrong, because she is warm and likes to share her keen eye on fashion.

I watched her a lot during her discussions with young designers: she meticulously studies their backgrounds and asks them relevant questions about every detail of the creation.

I like his tenacity in wanting to unearth the talents and avant-garde designers of tomorrow.

What do you like about Louis Vuitton, of which you are one of the muses?

The enthusiasm and collective spirit of the Louis Vuitton workshop, made up of twenty passionate employees, which was inaugurated in 1859, five years after the creation of the house by Louis Vuitton himself.

I like the commitment that supports creation, no doubt because I have always worked in my life.

Then there is the exceptional touch of Nicolas Ghesquière.

Its structured lines give the woman a warrior look in which I recognize myself.

The most incredible of all the dresses he had made for me was inspired by the architecture of the Center Pompidou.

It is a spectacular embroidery work, which required more than 90,000 sequins of 18 different colors.

Which young designers from the LVMH Prize caught your attention?

Burc Akyol's work conquered me.

He is a French designer of Turkish origin who was introduced to the trade by his father, a tailor.

He is a graduate of the French Fashion Institute and launched his label in 2019. He draws inspiration from the people he meets on his travels, and his wardrobes are quirky and loaded with traditional haute couture details.

More generally, I liked the freedom of dialogue between women's and men's wardrobes and the way these designers place eco-responsibility at the heart of their approach.

“When I was a teenager, I saw acting as a game”

You started your career so young that we sometimes forget that you are only 27

years old.

Would you have liked to live longer in the carefree age?

I have a hard time remembering a carefree age, as I entered show business at 13.

But I kept the sense of wonder.

When I was a teenager, I saw acting as a game. It's strange to say, but there were never limits between Sansa Stark, the character who revealed me in Game of

Thrones

, and me.

Science explains that until the age of 20, the brain makes less distinction between the imaginary and the real.

I felt every emotion of this character, and he will always be a part of me.

I always find it very interesting how our identity changes depending on the country where we are!

Sophie Turner

You travel a lot.

Do you have the impression that globalization is gradually erasing the differences between styles from one country to another?

On the contrary, I always find very interesting the way our identity changes depending on the country where we are!

In Miami, where I live half the time, I wear light dresses, I play with transparencies, very feminine codes.

In Paris, I adopt the

effortless

chic so dear to Parisiennes.

New York and London, my other favorite city, inspire me with grunge looks and the desire to wear graphic elements: a large Art Deco long necklace, a beret, a vintage Vuitton belt.

What did you like about the character you play in The Staircase

series

and what are your plans?

The screenplay of

The Staircase

is based on the true story of writer Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), who killed his wife.

I play a composition role, that of Margaret Ratliff, his daughter, for which I have documented a lot.

I liked this realistic side and my projects in the cinema go in the same direction...

Your Instagram account has nearly 15

million followers.

Do you believe that social networks will one day dictate fashion codes?

It already is, isn't it?

But it depends on the codes you are referring to.

The problem with social networks is that they convey microtrends

that

only last a few months.

The mind is agitated for not much.

The fashion codes that interest me are those that calm the mind, because they are perennial, like art.

I love pieces that I can wear in twenty years and pass on to my daughters.
