(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 06 - D-day is approaching for Ita Airways.
Next Friday the new national airline, born from the ashes of Alitalia, should enter the Lufthansa universe.
In fact, the extension of the exclusive negotiation between the Treasury and Lufthansa for the sale of a minority stake in the newco to the German giant expires on May 12th.
Originally the exclusivity period was supposed to end on April 24 but then the Germans had asked for a short extension, granted by the MEF, Ita's sole shareholder.
The "focus is on the price" but "the operation in its structure is defined", has been explained in recent days.
If all goes as expected, Ita Airways will join a Lufthansa universe that includes Air Dolomiti, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International, Lufthansa Regional, Lufthansa CityLine, Edelweiss Air, Eurowings and Lufthansa Cargo.
