A man is astonished when he spots an Amsterdam-style pizza at Lidl. But what is so special about this frozen product?
Newcastle – At some point, even the best pizza is sucked out, then a new one has to be made. Manufacturers are resourceful when it comes to new creations. Do you remember the chocolate pizza? Or the variety with fish fingers, also from Dr. Oetker? The discounter Lidl has now also dared to experiment.
A photo has surfaced on Twitter showing a freezer. This is full of "Amsterdam Style Pizza". The user, a chef and teacher from Newcastle in the UK, discovered her at the discount store. Because he can't imagine anything under the variety, Anthony O'Shaughnessy asked the net community: "It's Dutch week at Lidl. What the hell is Amsterdam-style pizza?"

The topping is not extraordinary: tomato sauce, grated cheese and mozzarella. But he did not receive a clear answer, on the net they continued to puzzle and joke. "I'm from the Netherlands and I have to admit that I have no idea what an Amsterdam-style pizza is," one user wrote. "Whatever it is, the crust in the photo looks bad," says another. One user, who may be a smoker, asks, "Is there weed in it? If so, please get me one." Maybe she means the question jokingly. In the Netherlands, the sale of cannabis in coffee shops has been tolerated since 1976. There are many such outlets in Amsterdam.

But back to the ominous Lidl pizza. After the net couldn't help O'Shaughnessy, he grabbed it. "Just tried them. It was beautiful in a weird way," he later tweeted.
