Debunking fraudulent job offers – this is how it works
Fraudulent job offers or job scamming is a scam with which criminal people want to get your personal data. To do this, they use fake job offers to which applicants respond. These false job offers can also be placed in reputable job portals, so it is important that you always pay attention to the seriousness of the respective offer.
Then you should be suspicious:
If a far above-average salary and an outstanding job description that is far better than the job requirements are indicated.
This is usually only intended to attract you, it can lure websites behind it that look professional, but have only been recreated by people so that you fall into the trap. Sometimes even supposedly real job interviews are recreated in the subsequent step, but these take place digitally via various messenger services. You should be alerted if you are asked for a legible copy of your identity card and if a video identification procedure is also to be carried out. The NRW police also warn against this procedure on their website: "A video identification procedure as part of an online application process is quite possible. In any case, however, you should refuse to open an account via the video identification procedure in an application process." If this has happened, you should file a complaint.
